Andersen BIOSKETCH Dr. Carnes, Professor of Corporate Communication and Technology and Chair of Management, Marketing, and Administrative Communication, received her Ed.D. in Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation with a concentration in Higher Education Administration and Organizational Communication from the University of Kentucky. Before joining the faculty in the College of Business and Technology, Dr. Carnes was Associate Director of Eastern Kentucky University Development for 12 years. Dr. Carnes is a well-published researcher with numerous articles published in leading journals in her field. Her research interests include business and intercultural business communication, the role of critical thinking in strategic communication, assessment in education, collaboration between institutional units, and research applied to teaching and classroom effectiveness. She has made international presentations in Vienna, Austria, and China. Dr. Carnes is actively involved in professional organizations and has served as President of the Association for Business Communication, Southwest Region United States, National President of Pi Omega Pi, and program chair for the 73rd ABC International Convention for 2008. Dr. Carnes sponsored EKU's oldest honorary student organization, Pi Omega Pi, from 1997-2008. Eastern Kentucky University’s Alpha Beta Chapter of Pi Omega Pi has placed in the top ten in national competition for seven consecutive years and in 2007 was awarded first place in national competition. |
