BioInformatic Facility
The BioInformatic Facility in the Department of Biological Sciences at EKU occupies a self-contained fully networked space of 350 ft.2.
The facility contains:
1 PowerMacIntosh G5 w/ 8 GB RAM, dual 2 GHz processors, and a 250 GB HD
6 PowerMacIntosh G4s, each w/ 1.5 GB RAM, a 933 MHz processor and a 50 GB HD.
An Xgrid (LAN) is now being established in the facility to maximize the efficiency of our computational efforts, incorporating:
An Xserve RAID (level 5) w/ 3.25 TB ADM
An Xserve G5 Cluster Node w/ dual 2 GHz processors and 800GB ADM
An Xserve G5 Server w/ 6 GB RAM, dual 2 GHz processors and 400GB ADM.
Windows-based programs are supported by:
4 Dell Workstation Precision 340s, each w/ 2 GB RAM, 2 GHz processors/ 20 GB HD,
Integrated LAN through a Dell PowerEdge 400SC Server w/ 4 GB RAM, a 3.2 GHz processor, and a RAID 1 dual 120 GB HD.
