Welcome students! This information is provided to help you
access the virtual classroom for your online lecture. You have already achieved Step 1, which is to reach Dr. Fardo's home page.
On his home page there is a link called Blackboard Online Course Login, which you need to click on. This will take you to the Blackboard title
page, where you will be asked to login.
Step
2: To log in,
enter your username. Your username is the first part of your EKU
email address. For example, if your email address is steve.fardo33@eku.edu, your username will
be: steve.fardo33. Please include
any numbers included in that first part of your address. The next box asks for
a password. This will be the last four digits of your
social security number or the password that you currently use to access your
EKU email. When you are finished
entering all the information, click on the login
button just beneath your password box. If you are not familiar with your EKU
email address, or are not successful at logging in, please contact Veronique or
Dr Fardo by phone at 622-1184 or by email at veronique_munier@eku.edu or Steve.Fardo@eku.edu.
Step
3: You have now
entered Blackboard. On the right of the screen is a box entitled “My Courses”.
It lists the classes for which you are registered on Blackboard. Choose the
class you want. This will take you
directly to the “Announcements” page which contains information about the class
poster every week. Be sure to consult it often. On the left, there are several
buttons that you can click on to access information. The most useful will be
the following:
Staff
Information: lists email addresses for your instructor and
the graduate assistant
Course
Documents: has links to the syllabus and the course of
study
Communications:
is used to enter the Virtual Classroom
(see instructions below)
Discussion
Board: will be used every week to post your answer to
a question or discuss a topic
Step
4: To enter the Virtual Classroom and join the
instructor and the other students online, click on the button on the left.
Choose Collaboration. Click on the Join button, next to Lecture Hall Virtual Classroom. You are now entering
the virtual classroom. It may take a few minutes for the information to load on
your computer. Wait until you see the classroom screen which has a large
"whiteboard" that serves as our chalkboard at the top, a second box
beneath it with the ongoing virtual discussion, and a final smaller box where
you can type your contribution to the discussion. Make sure to click in the
bottom box, next to the word Compose
before beginning to type, and hit Send
or hit enter on your keyboard when you are finished typing and want to display
your answer.
Your message will appear in the larger box just
above the one you typed in, so that everyone will be able to see your
message.
Troubleshooting: If you experience any
difficulty during online time, please contact your Instructor or the Graduate
Assistant by phone 859-622-1184 or by email.
