ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE

2004-Present
Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Eastern Kentucky University Responsible for academic and student affairs within the college, providing leadership in the areas of academic curriculum and program development, academic advising, student learning assessment and retention, general education, and instructional technology.

2003-2004
Acting Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Eastern Kentucky University Responsible for the largest college consisting of 17 departments with approximately 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including a new African/African-American Studies Program; with 285 line faculty, plus approximately 200 additional adjunct faculty that produces nearly 200,000 student credit hours per year; having a budget of $20 million.

1999-2003
Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Eastern Kentucky University Responsible for oversight of all student services within the college; management of all curricular changes coming from the college through the university approval system; prioritization and distribution of college capital equipment funds; chaired college Faculty Development Committee and served as administrator for direct reports from Science Learning Resources Center, Chemical Storage Facility and Chemical Safety Officer. The position of associate dean is also responsible for oversight of the university wide General Education Program.

Beginning July 1, 1999, the College of Arts & Sciences was restructured from three existing colleges (Arts & Humanities, Natural & Mathematical Sciences and Social & Behavioral Sciences). The process of creating one unified college from three was overseen by the dean and associate dean.

Chaired (for three years) an ad hoc general education committee charged by the President to create a new general education program for Eastern Kentucky University.

Chair, Department of Geology, Eastern Kentucky University (Department was renamed Earth Sciences after merger with another department in 1994.) Responsible for a small- to medium-sized department of 8-10 faculty members with two undergraduate and one masters degree program in geology and an earth science teaching degree program. The 1994 merger added a very active general education science effort in the department.
