2003-2004 Acting Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Eastern Kentucky University Responsible for the largest college consisting of 17 departments with approximately 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including a new African/African-American Studies Program; with 285 line faculty, plus approximately 200 additional adjunct faculty that produces nearly 200,000 student credit hours per year; having a budget of $20 million. 1999-2003 Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Eastern Kentucky University Responsible for oversight of all student services within the college; management of all curricular changes coming from the college through the university approval system; prioritization and distribution of college capital equipment funds; chaired college Faculty Development Committee and served as administrator for direct reports from Science Learning Resources Center, Chemical Storage Facility and Chemical Safety Officer. The position of associate dean is also responsible for oversight of the university wide General Education Program. Beginning July 1, 1999, the College of Arts & Sciences was restructured from three existing colleges (Arts & Humanities, Natural & Mathematical Sciences and Social & Behavioral Sciences). The process of creating one unified college from three was overseen by the dean and associate dean. Chaired (for three years) an ad hoc general education committee charged by the President to create a new general education program for Eastern Kentucky University. 1981-1999 Chair, Department of Geology, Eastern Kentucky University (Department was renamed Earth Sciences after merger with another department in 1994.) Responsible for a small- to medium-sized department of 8-10 faculty members with two undergraduate and one masters degree program in geology and an earth science teaching degree program. The 1994 merger added a very active general education science effort in the department. 1980-1981 Acting Chair, Department of Geology, Eastern Kentucky University ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE1986-PresentProfessor of Geology, Eastern Kentucky University 1981-1986 Associate Professor of Geology, Eastern Kentucky University 1979-1981 Assistant Professor of Geology, Eastern Kentucky University 1978-1979 Assistant Professor of Geology, University of Florida 1976-1977 Assistant Professor of Geology, University of Louisville 1974-1976 Instructor of Geology, University of Louisville
