Reduction-cooled TeapotThrown and handbuil, reduction colled, copper lid & handle Artist StatementMy work opposes the direction in which I see contemporary art and society moving. Visual objects today tend to be big and bright, screaming out to the viewer "Look at me." However, after grab one's attention, there is very little to hold the viewer's long term interest. My work communicates to the viewer using an intimate whisper rather than a scream. I avoid the use of bright flashy colors; my pallet tends towards muted earth tones. I consciously make my work on a small manageable scale compared to current norms. My forms and colors shift subtly to create pleasing compositions, designed to slowly develop a relationship with a viewer and hold his interest for many years. I wish for the beauty and interest of my work to grow over time, as this is the ultimate test of art. Resume
