Catalog Description: (3) I, II. Prerequisite: MUS 182 or instructor approval. Develop skills for improvising in contemporary jazz idioms.

Course Description: This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of improvising in a jazz style. After covering basics of "jazz theory" such as chord notation and chord/scale relationships, the course will focus on key songs in the canon of the jazz repertory as a means of learning techniques of improvising over different harmonic progressions.
