This course can be substituted for a social studies content area course in most
MA.Ed. and M.A.T. programs.

Course Focus:
This course will use specific historical time periods
to illustrate that the diet of modern and historical people is determined by the interaction
between social, economic, political, and technological forces.
The course will include instruction in historical and current events, various teaching techniques that
encourage critical thinking, reading in the content area, and the use of technology in class instruction.
Participants will create a unit of study appropriate for use in their own classrooms.

Reading and Internet assignments will be required.
