CSC 110 - Introduction to the Internet
Class Description
Introduction to the Internet and Internet processing tools.
The course emphasizes the use of the World Wide Web as an information broadcasting
and retrieval tool.

Objectives
This one-credit-hour class aims to enhance your Internet terminology and to develop your
Internet skills in these key areas:
- Communication on the Internet
- Using a browser
- Searching for information on the WWW
- Understanding Internet ethics and safety
Attendance Policies
This course is conducted entirely online so we have no class meetings. Session modules will be released each week, and
students are expected to complete their assignments within a seven day period unless otherwise specified by the instructor.
Tentative Course Schedule
- Week 1 - Introduction to Networking
- Week 2 - Introduction to the World Wide Web
- Week 3 - Information sharing on the Internet and WWW
- Week 4 - Communication on the Internet and WWW
- Week 5 - Personal Safety and Computer Networks
* Final Exam - Becomes available on Thursday of week 5 and ends the following Sunday evening
Grading Policies
We will have many homework assignments and a final exam.
The homeworks will be worth 60% of the final grade, and the final exam will be the
remaining 40%
We will use the standard grading scale:

| B | 90 - 80 |
| C | 80 - 70 |
| D | 70 - 60 |
| F | 60 - 0 |
Assignments are expected to completed by Midnight on the evening of the Sunday after
the assignment was given. (Note: Due to the holidays in November, the first few
weeks for the final third will have a different due date. The due date for each week
will be included with that week's assignments.)
Late assignments will not be accepted without a valid excuse.
