College of Arts & Sciences
Welcome to my homepage. I am Chair of the Department of Economics but for academic year 2003-2004 I was serving as Acting Associate Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. Besides teaching, my department chair duties include recruiting new majors and working with students in economics classes. We have a strong major. Our graduates do well in a variety of fields. Several in the past two years have gone on to law school at UK and NKU. Several more have pursued graduate work in economics at places such as UK and University of Cinncinati. Yet others have gone into MBA and other masters programs. Those going into the business world work in a variety of areas such as banking, insurance, sales and management. Salaries for economics majors as reported in national surveys are in the top tier for all majors.
I joined the EKU faculty in July, 2000 after teaching for a number of years at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. At WCU I was department head of Economics, Finance and International Business for four years and Interim Dean of the College of Business for one year. I have taught in Jamaica and in the Netherlands as part of WCU exchange programs and have traveled extensively in Kenya, China, India, Sri Lanka, Canada and Europe. Since coming to EKU, I have been active in establishing an exchange program with a Dutch college, the Hogeschool Brabant in Breda, the Netherlands. Several economics and business majors have taken advantage of this program to study in Breda for one or two semesters.
Here I
am with staff in the Dean's Office at Halloween, 2003. Don't get excited,
its ginger ale!
Here's a favorite pic of Kentucky I took in late October, 2000 at Kentucky's
Natural

"Economic Literacy is essential for everyday citizens trying to understand and prosper in today's world. Like it or not, we all live in the marketplace, both local and global, and the sooner we educate ourselves about its workings, the better off--and happier --we will be." --Walter Anderson, Editor, Parade Magazine "Only when you understand the forces that affect your money on a daily basis can you develop a plan to make those forces work in your favor." -- David R.
